This project looks at the of the Korean history textbook based on the “re-nationalisation of history textbook”. The notion “re-nationalisation of history” means that under government supervision, a new history textbook will be drafted and Korean secondary schools will receive uniform history education. Half of the project’s title “Normalising the Abnormal” is from the Korean government’s recent catchphrase showing the government’s justification to pursue the bias revision.
Due to the fact that South Korea pursues autocratic agenda reminiscent of the age of its dictatorship in past years, it motivated me to make fictional outcomes. All information on posters is based on facts that the government has announced such as the date of issue and the government’s comment on the issue. The poster series rigorously commemorates the re-nationalisation of history textbook that hasn’t occurred yet.
